Like many radiographers, I began my career focused on developing my clinical skills and providing the best possible care for patients.

As my career progressed, I quickly realised that technical competence alone was not enough to secure new opportunities. Applications, personal statements, interviews, leadership development and, importantly, understanding how to demonstrate your impact all play a significant role in career progression.

​

Over the last five years, I have progressed from a newly qualified radiographer to a Band 8A Superintendent Radiographer, gaining experience across both NHS and private healthcare settings.

​

Throughout that journey, I experienced first-hand many of the challenges radiographers face when navigating career progression.

​

I know what it feels like to prepare for that next step, question whether your experience is enough, and try to translate your day-to-day clinical experience into a strong personal statement or confident interview answer.

As I progressed into more senior roles, I also became increasingly involved in leadership, service development, education and supporting others within the profession. This reinforced something I had already experienced myself: there are many talented radiographers who have the experience to progress, but don't always know how to communicate it effectively.
